March 30th Going out like a Lion

Greetings loyal followers :D James took the day off to get some much needed rest. He did go out and check on the status of the ceiling treatment and we are sad to report it did NOT work :( After some research, James thinks he may have found a solution that isn't too horrible and complicated. Keep your fingers crossed that this works.

I did not make it back out into the RV this afternoon as March is going out like a lion and decided we needed some more SNOW, so the lighting was not the best. Hopefully soon the sunshine AND warmth will return to us so we can get working on the outside projects.

Tomorrow James will be working on cleaning the ceiling and working on the new treatments and not sure what else. Guess we will all be surprised. :D

Have a wonderful night or day, whatever time it may be. Thanks for stopping by!

March 29 A week has passed???!

I can't believe a week has gone by since I've last posted on the blog! So sorry to all our followers. Even though there hasn't been much chatter here, there sure has been a lot of work going on in the RV.

James has been busy working on many projects. He has completed the base of the bed and it is as solid as a rock!

We will be snug as bugs in the room that is mainly a bed. :D

Friday night and most of the Saturday we shopped for more items to complete our beach house. We purchased a shower door, but later realized that it is a tad too tall for the space. Since it is tempered glass we are unable to cut it down to fit, so not sure what we are going to do. James is so handy that I'm sure he'll get it figured out in no time.

While attempting to figure out the ceiling in the remainder of the coach we found something to help button up the shower area in order to keep it dry and look nice as well. The piece that James found was meant for a drop ceiling or some such thing, but it worked perfectly as the trim around the shower. Good job babe! Thought I had a picture, but surprisingly I don't, so I'll add that to my list of shots to get.

Sunday we spent at least 7 hours working in the coach. James worked on the shower area, adding cabling for the TV in the bed room and papering the front wall in the living room area while I painted, painted, primed and painted. Good gravy that is a lot of work! The cabinets look AWESOME though. I sure was worried about the white, because I just don't really like white, but it looks GOOD. James has been adding 3rd and 4th coats the last couple of days to get them looking nice.

He also papered, primed AND painted the front wall that shuts out the driving area of the coach. At first he scared me and asked for the white paint roller to paint all the walls and I had I minor freak out. LOL I just couldn't stand the idea of the entire area being white OMG that is just too much! Then I thought OMG I can't stand the idea of picking out any more paint colors, so I told him just paint everything white because I'm done. Fortunately, he didn't listen to me in my moment of insanity. Instead he primed the walls and we left it at that until we picked out some wonderful shades of green thanks to the help of our friend Mary Ingram who works at Lowes in the paint dept. You ROCK, Mary! Thank you so much for helping me get over my fear of committing to paint colors! :D

James was so excited to get the color up that he painted the walls today! He admitted he was a little afraid of the colors, but when I saw them on the walls I was INSTANTLY in love. I tried to get some shots, but you know how that goes, so bear with me and my terrible photographing skills. Again pictures just don't do it justice, so you'll just have to see it to believe how beautiful this ol' girl is looking.

This is the front of the coach it is a very subtle shade of green. The brown door and the green wall really work well together.

This is the back part of the coach. The bathroom door is now painted brown and the walls are the darker color green. On the left you can kind of see the washing machine and on the right is where the fridge will go.

The red that you see on the right hand side of the ceiling is actually paper. James is planning to adhere this special paper to the entire ceiling so that the paintable wallpaper can be put up in the remaining area of the coach. I KNEW I'd get my way. I feel bad for him though because that is not an easy job for one man to do on his own. Keep your fingers crossed that this works because if not it is back to the drawing board for the ceiling and time is running out.

Well, that is all I have to report for now. I'll do my best to work on checking in on a regular basis. Take care and thanks for stopping by!

March 22 Sorry Sunshine

Well, guess the sun was tired of hearing me complain about it ruining my picture taking because it has not made an appearance all day and isn't supposed to for the remainder of the week. :( Wonder if I say I'm sorry if it would make a difference. Hopefully next week the weather will be nicer.

Today I get to go shopping for paint for the Kitchen/Office space and the living area. It appears to be quite the daunting task...but you probably aren't surprised after the bathroom paint fiasco and the bedroom paint choices. Someone who is near and dear to my heart doesn't like hearing the word no or the ugly truth that he does not possess an eye for colors like I do, but we are going to work on it again tonight in the paint section of either Menards or Lowes. Hehehe LOVE YOU HONEY!!!!!

Who would of thought that white would first of all be one of my choices for the cabinets or the fact that there are so many different shades; white with tones of pink, yellow, gray, blue, green and on and on and on. I do know that I am NOT going to commit to anything until I am 100% certain I like it and I think I might even buy a sample size to try out.

James worked really hard today finishing up the walls in the front and priming so that tomorrow he can paper. He also bought a light fixture and maybe if I don't procrastinate in picking out my paint colors it might not get put up before the paint.

The wall sconce he purchased is really nice, I think I'm starting to rub off on him.

Not sure how soon I'll get new pictures up since the weather is taking a turn for the worst and they are even threatening us with that dreaded 4 letter word S*N*O*W this weekend. Ewwwwwwwww! That makes for really bad lighting for pictures.

That is all I have to share for today. Over and out, catch ya on the flip side, see ya later alligator and all that jazz.

March 21 Sunny Monday

We lucked out today and had a gorgeous day! The high was 63 and none of the rain showed up...maybe later tonight, but that is fine....makes for good sleeping :D

While I was hard at work at FCSD, James was out and about in the RV. I had no idea what he had planned for today and I was pleasantly surprised. He hung the cabinet doors back up in the bedroom and added cedar accents. We are going to tame down the brightness a lil bit by adding a dark brown color on the faces of the doors. I think that will look good....ok I am HOPING :D Here is what the bedroom looks like so far.

In addition to working on the bedroom, hubby was busy working in the bathroom. He painted the last of the peach walls and it looks really nice. This is the shower wall and the shower that is currently filling in as a storage area.

My favorite of all his projects is the bathroom tile job! He put in the accent tile and the tile counter top. He said it was a lil bit of a bugger but he managed to make it work. So far it looks AWESOME!!! We are both a little nervous about drilling through the tile to add the sink, but we have a spare piece of tile if the first try doesn't go well.

Of course the sun was shining in the lil bathroom window which causes for bad photos, but what can ya do? Once it is totally finished I'll work on my picture taking.

Here is a close up of the granite tiled counter top.

Here is a close up of the glass tile accent.

When I got home from work I changed into my other work clothes and headed to the RV. James was busy working on priming the remainder of the coach so I lent a helping hand by removing the cupboard doors, stealing the good paint brush and finishing helping him prime. I only put in about an hour but it was enough to make a difference.

We are still at a loss for what to do for the ceiling in the living and kitchen area. It will come to us I'm sure.

Well, I guess that is all we have to report today. I am sure once James makes his weekly supply shopping trip we'll have a lot more to share.

Have a great one!

March 20 Full Steam Ahead, at least for James

Greetings! I had good intentions of accomplishing a lot today, but my body and mind had other ideas. I was up by 8 and out the door with hubby around 9 to start our work day. Today was the day the bedroom painting WAS going to be FINISHED. James painted the cupboard doors and I touched up the wall and cabinet doors. Happily it is completed....well the painting part of it. That is the main thing we needed to accomplish so that we can move forward in that area. Now all we have left to do is lay carpet and build the bed. Ok not we, but rather James. He is so good at this project!

We agreed that the ceiling paint in the bathroom needed to be finished today as well. James took on that job since he is much taller than I and could reach without any sort of struggle. The shimmer coating looks AWESOME and I am trying really hard to convince James that we should do that throughout the coach...I'm gonna keep trying. Check out the photos below. It really looks even better in person.

Since the majority of the painting is finished in the bath room I figured it would be ok to take down the painters tape. Unfortunately, the tape didn't come off as nicely as it was supposed to and ended up tearing some of the painted wall! Fortunately, this wasn't an issue for hubby. He got some goop and pasted the torn piece back into place and you can't even tell. That event right there was enough for me to call it quits for the day.

James continued working and tightened up the step into the RV. Before It had a little cubby hole that was not practical for anything, so he filled it in and built the floor out a little further.

Well James is calling me. Guess we are going to hang the cabinet doors back up in the bedroom and call it a night. Thanks again for stopping by. Hope you are enjoying the blog!

Ok, so I was wrong

All was not quiet on the home front. James got out of work early, so he started working in the RV when he got home. He got the light fixture up in the bathroom and it sure looks sharp, don't ya think? The only down side is he put it up BEFORE the ceiling was painted. I swear he does that stuff so that he can watch me get all aggravated and huffy LOL

When I got home from spending the afternoon with Jorden, I figured I better put a second coat of paint on the bathroom cabinets AND James started nagging me about the bathroom ceiling so I ended up putting the color on. It was such thick wonderful paint that it only needed one coat. Tonight it will dry and tomorrow we will put the shimmer treatment on. So excited to see how it looks when it is finished. The ceiling color already makes a difference.

It is really hard to get the true color of the ceiling. I will try in the morning when the sun isn't shining in on the west side of the RV.

So tomorrow James is not working and Jorden works at noonish so that gives us a lot of daylight hours to get a lot accomplished. I will be finishing the cabinets in the bed room and the lovely yellow paint on the walls. James will be working on the priming in the front area and we will be putting up the final treatment for the bathroom ceiling. We may need to pick up a few more brushes because we have a lot of painting and only 2 brushes. :D

Well thanks for stopping by and I'll be checking in tomorrow.

March 19 All is Quiet on the Home Front

If only that were true. Things are quiet in the RV, but not so much elsewhere. Thursday through Sunday are the most hectic days of the week as I am the chauffeur to Jorden and James. My days start at 6 a.m. and usually don't end until midnight. On top of all the driving I am supposed to work in the RV. Today, it just isn't going to happen other than taping and prepping for priming tomorrow.

Since James cleaned up the front part of the coach I can get in and finish sanding and then prime in the "living room" area and desk area. I will be soooooooooooo happy once that is all over.

Hope you all have a safe and happy weekend!

March 16, 2011 Round 2 of the paint colors

Happy Hump day! The day started out wet and dreary, but then the sun came out and the day ended BEAUTIFULY! Perfect day for doing some serious work in the RV.

James was a busy bee today. He completed enclosing the storage compartment in the front of the RV. It used to be the passenger seat, but since I will be driving the van while he drives the big girl we found that seat to be unnecessary. Space is so limited and we lost a lot when we took out the furnace/storage cabinet in the kitchen area we figured putting in a storage cabinet in would make up for the loss.

The building out the wall on the pocket door was another one of his major projects today. Its looking really good. Next week when he is off he will be putting up luan and then it will be painted.

Here are some pictures of the cabinet and pocket door up front. The cabinet is on the right and the pocket door slides into the wall on the left.

When I got home from work tonight James was busy cleaning up the sawdust and getting the scrap pieces of wood cleared out. He's making room for me to prime in the front part of the coach this weekend, anyone want to join me???? :D

Speaking of painting I did get the second coat of paint up in the bathroom. Now I worry that the colors are too dark and will make it look smaller in there. GAAAAHHHH I can't win! I do have to say that the colors are MUCH better than the "Ken Doll Peach" as my hubby dubbed it and I REFUSE to pick a third color for the bathroom, so I'm going to leave it be. Here are some photos of the paint color for today. Let me know your thoughts.

Hope you enjoyed reading up on our adventures for today. Not sure how much we will accomplish in the next few days since James will be working and that means early hours for both of us. Saturday I plan to get a lot done and will make sure to update the pictures here. Thanks for stopping by!

March 15, 2011

It is amazing how much things can change in a short amount of time. Today James purchased the cabinets AND installed them! We still have a ceiling to take care of but it certainly is exciting to see how much was accomplished.

As I mentioned in yesterday's post we got the paint up in the bathroom and neither of us was thrilled with the color. I tried really hard to make it work, but I just couldn't do it nor could James. Now we have 3/4 of a gallon for flesh colored paint. Of course not all is lost as James is going to use that color to paint the bedroom floor before putting the carpet in.

Below are pictures of the cabinets and the flesh colored paint. Oh and the bowl that we made into a sink.

This evening we headed off to Menards to pick up a "few little things" and ended up with new colors for the walls and the cabinets in the bathroom. I couldn't WAIT to try it out, so I got the walls done and added a little splash on the cabinets. Alas, I did not take pictures, but promise to work on them for tomorrow. Gotta put something out there to keep you coming back :D

Thanks for popping by and hope to see ya around!

March 14

Today is Pi day, or 3.14 :D James convinced me to get to the painting in the bathroom because tomorrow we buy the cabinets and such for the bathroom!!!! Can't wait....means some more work for me, but I'm enjoying it.

Tonight we had some good laughs as James was attempting to build a base for the cabinets. He finally got it right after nailing it together upside down and backwards a couple of times. Lucky for me he didn't nail ME to the project because I really had a hard time not laughing.

We also had some fun with the flesh colored bathroom paint. So far hubby is 0 for 3 in his choices of paint colors. Fortunately, the cabinets in the bathroom will cover a lot of the space, so hopefully it won't look so bad once we get them up and in place. I'll try to get some pictures up in the next couple of days.

The pocket door in the front of the RV has been put in and looks good. Down side is it might make for a really tight squeeze when it comes time to put in the reclining love seat. Gonna do some more measuring and hoping that we can make it work. If not its back to looking for matching recliners. UGH!

Finally, found some paper and a pen amongst all the tools, saw dust and miscellaneous items. I made James take measurements for EVERYTHING and I wrote them down. All I need to do now is remember to put them in my purse so I can have them when I need them when we are out and about.

It is getting really exciting to see how far we have come, but overwhelming when we look at how much we have left to do.

March 13, 2011

So here it is March 11, 2011 and the RV is still completely gutted. The good news is the ceiling in the bedroom is up and the first coat of paint is up on the wall. The bathroom is not far behind and I think it will be the first of the spaces to be finished.

Here are some pictures of what we've started with and where we are as of today. Enjoy!
